Born in 1988 in Katiola, Ivory Coast Lives and works in Bingerville, Ivory Coast
Graduated in painting and photography from Lycée d’Enseignement Artistique of Cocody and National School of Fine Arts in Abidjan where he becomes major in 2012. Yéanzi worked as portraitist for about a decade.
Since 2013, he has continued his personal work by using plastic which he melts. He modifies, that way,his relation to the portrait, paints without painting people who surround him everyday. In this approach, he collects each story, he uses their nickname as a title, their remarkable identities, a mask they carry in society, to reveal their personality in watermark.
Yéanzi has received several awards and distinctions, in particular, the painting’s first prize at the cultural competition ‘‘Cote d’Ivoire-Israël’’, in 2008. Also, he received the honor diploma of the Ivoirian National Order of Merit in 2012. In 2013, he was the winner of the ‘‘Grand Prix Nairay Guy’’ and ‘‘Bene Hoane’’s prize, that same year, he participated at ‘‘Jeux de la Francophonie’’ in Nice, France.
His works have been presented for the first time to the public during a group exhibition in the Eureka Galery-Abidjan in 2010. His last exhibitions took place in 2015 at the Galerie Cecile Fakhoury Abidjan for a solo exhibition entitled persona, and recently at the Jack Bell Gallery, London in the group show Studio Lumiere. He also took part in the exhibition Abidjan on dit quoi? Jeunes talents in 2012 at the Rotonde des Arts. In 2014, he participated at the group exhibition AAA (Abidjan Arts Actuels) at the Fondation Donwahi in Abidjan. In 2015, his work is exposed for the first time in Lagos, Nigeria, for the exhibition ‘‘Platform’’ presented by the gallery Art Twenty One.
The Galerie Cécile Fakhoury also showed his works during the 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair 2014 and 2015 in London and Art Dubai 2015.
